Overview

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary, Cystic Fibrosis, and Sleep Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) serves a diverse and underserved patient population across Northern California. Our multidisciplinary team provides family-centered, comprehensive, coordinated, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive care for children and youth with special health care needs, frequently in collaboration with state Title V-supported agencies like California Children's Services.

Purpose

The UCSF Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) strives to recruit and train a diverse group of trainees who will become the future Maternal and Child Health (MCH) leaders in pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine and embody the Core MCH Leadership Competencies.

Training

We will train at least 5 long-term, 20 medium-term, and 40 short-term trainees each year. Trainees will be recruited from the following core MCH disciplines: pediatric pulmonary medicine, nursing, nutrition, social work, and pharmacy.
We intend to provide a rigorous, broadly inclusive, and supportive training environment that:
-
Develops superior clinical, analytical, and leadership skills with an emphasis on family-centered, comprehensive, coordinated, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive care
-
Stimulates intellectual curiosity and critical thinking by offering a broad range of scholarly and quality improvement opportunities
-
Fosters individual passions by providing personalized support and effective mentorship

Research
